Kiran Segal
was initated in dance by her mother Zohra Segal, who
with her husband, Kameshwar, was with Uday Shankar
and their own dance company. Kiran took up Odissi
under the guidance of Guru Mayadhar Raut at the Sri
Ram Bharatiya Kala Kendra at Delhi. Kiran has
travelled in India and abroad extensively performing
at important dance and music festivals earning
encomiums for her art. Her recitals are noteworthy
for poise and graceful movements.
Her
choreography of a prayer in praise of Lord Shiva Jago
Maheswara evokes the right mood and brings to
life the exquisite images of the dance of Shiva. She
is based in Delhi and teaches Odissi besides giving
regular performances.
