Initiated
into by Gurus Srinath Raut and Govind Chandra Pal,
Aruna Mohanty was grommed as a dancer by Guru
Gangudhar Pradhan. She also received guidance from
Guru Pankaj Charan Das, Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra and
Srimati Sanjukta Panigrahi. She was a recipient of
National Scholarship for Dance.
Since
her debut in 1975, Shrimati Aruna Mohanty has
performed extensiveli establishing herself as a
leading representative of her Guru. She has featured
Akademi's festival of young dancers in 1985, the
Khajuraho Festival and the Konark Festival apart from
giving numerous performances for Orita association in
different parts of the country.
Shrimati
Aruna Mohanty has been honoured by the Utkal
University for dance and has received the Mahari
Award in 1997 from Guru Pankaj Charan Odissi Reserach
Foundation, Bhubaneswar. Apart from performing the
dance, she is actively involved in the work of
teaching and production at the Orissa
Dance Academy, Bhubaneswar.
