Art
Vision was founded in the year 1996 by a group of
artists belonging to different disciplines such as
dance, painting , cinema and literature who wanted to
have a common ground for sharing experiences
and creative ideas. During these years
Art Vision has already conducted several events which
reflect its multi disciplinary nature. In October
1996 a two days “Festival of Arts for
Environment” was organised at the Adivasi ground
in Bhubaneswar. Here different forms of art like
painting, photography , dance and theatre were
brought together to express through their respective
medium their concern about environmental issues.
A three days “Festival of films on
performing and visual arts” has been
conducted in the month of April every year
since 1996 at Soochana Bhawan, Bhubaneswar. This
Festival is unique in its kind and has become a much
awaited event in the cultural scene of the Capital.
During this Festival artists and students of
art from various disciplines find an opportunity to
meet and witness cinematic masterpieces on the life
and work of classical dancers, musicians, painters
and actors. More than forty films have already
been shown directed by eminent directors such as
Satyajit Ray, Mani Kaul, Kumar Sahani, Gautam Ghosh
and Gulzar.
Besides
this, Art Vision is also organising cultural
functions in its own mini-auditorium situated
on the picturesque bank of the sacred Bindu Sagara
lake in the old Bhubaneswar. During these
functions, less known art forms such as ‘gotipua’
dance and ‘raas leela’ have been presented.
Art Vision Dance Academi runs dance classes in
Odissi and Mayurbhanji Chhau for local and
visiting students, for whom hostel facilities are
provided in the same compound. Regular Odissi dance
programs are presented by the Academi students
for group of visiting tourists, who have the
opportunity to round off their visit to the
historical temples of old Bhubaneswar by witnessing a
live performance of this lyrical dance in its natural
settings.
